Egypt: Christians Killed During Political Crisis

On Jan. 30, just days after the demonstrations to reform or overthrow the Egyptian government got underway, Muslims in the south of the country took advantage of the general chaos to break into two homes belonging to Coptic Christians and butcher every man, woman and child they could find. The Muslim assailants massacred 11 people and seriously wounded four others.

Survivors of the attack told the Assyrian International News Agency the attackers were aided by Muslim neighbors of the Christian families.
Fear is spreading that if Egypt falls into the hands of the radical Muslim Brotherhood, godfather of extremist groups across the region, the 10 million Coptic Christians in Egypt will face severe persecution, or worse.

Remember Christians in Egypt and other countries in the Middle East where persecution is escalating due to Islamic radicalization. Pray that they are constantly aware of God's presence, protection and provision. Pray for a tremendous outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Middle East, that many will come to know Christ as Lord and Savior.

"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." Romans 8:18

VOM assists Christians in Egypt through its Family of Prisoners Fund, Christian radio broadcasts and discipleship training for Muslim converts.
